Tiny School houses were sprinkled in the remote areas. Most would be forgotten if someone had not taken the photos and recorded the names of each school and the hearty souls that taught and learned in these little one room buildings.

NORWEGIAN SETTLERS. As per Lorraine Nord, Niece of Lawrence Zimmerer. This photograph of the Norwegian settlers was probably taken in the summer of 1901. At the home of Ole T. and Helen Westby, located on the spotted road. 2 miles east of Clayton. Potluck dinners were served to collect money for the Lutheran Church being built across the road from the scene, Following are those identified in the picture. The lineage of Lorraine (Zimmerer) Nord, wife of warren Nord is as follows.Her Mother was the Daughter of Ida Westby and Ida's parents were Ole T. and Helena Westby. Ida Westby married Calyd G Nolan and they had 11 dhildren, Lorraines Mother Violet was the 4th child. Violet now lives on the next farm north of where this picture was taken and that is where Lorraine (Rainy) was born & raised.

SWEDE HEAVEN HALL Located on North Spotted road on the O.T. Westby farm. It was purchased by Mr. Mall. He moved it to his farm at Montgomery and Spotted Rd.

The Church the Nowegian Settlers built:. TRYSIL LUTHERAN CHURCH. --- 2 Miles east of Clayton on Spotted Road. The Church was organized in 1892. The Building was built in 1901.The first child Baptized was William Hansen, Second, Lilly Johnson, and Third -- Harold Westby.

DEER PARK HIGH SCHOOL (Crawford School) Built in 1910 (started in 1910) ready for School in the fall of 1911. Contractor - Strauss and Sons of Spokane Wa. Board members - A.J. Peters, Ray Neaville and Thomas Zimmerer.

TWIN MOUNTAIN SCHOOL. 9miles southwest of Deer Park 1929 -1930

Edgewood School. 8 miles SW of Deer Park.

The second Loon Lake School. The first was a log building of which there is no available photo to date. NOTE: This is not a Lawrence Zimmerer photo and is the only such photo in these entire 5 albums. This is furnished by and compiments of the Loon Lake Historical Society.
